History

The Mykolaiv Charitable Organization “All-Ukrainian Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS” was officially registered in April 2005 and received legal status with its charter, seal, and bank details.
The All-Ukrainian Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS is the largest and most powerful organization that has been successfully providing HIV services to more than 2,000 clients (adults and children) in Mykolaiv and the Mykolaiv region for over 12 years.

The branch was created with the aim of organizing charitable activities in the interests of society, to provide assistance to certain categories of the population in need. The target group of the population to which the organization’s activities are directed is people living with HIV/AIDS, women, and children.
The organization has four departments according to areas of activity: care and support, children, advocacy, and work with the media and the public.

The Mykolaiv Charitable Organization “All-Ukrainian Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS” there is a trained, experienced, and highly professional team of social workers, a psychologist, a peer counselor, and a public relations specialist who have undergone training in workshops and seminars supported by the All-Ukrainian Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS. At the Mykolaiv Charitable Organization “All-Ukrainian Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS,” you can receive the services of a psychologist, peer counselor, get tested for HIV free of charge, make photocopies, get help in restoring documents, obtain information about rehabilitation centers in the Mykolaiv region and Ukraine, and receive charitable assistance. The main tasks of the department are:

• to promote local, regional, national, and international programs aimed at improving the socio-economic situation of people living with HIV/AIDS;
• to represent the interests of people living with HIV/AIDS at all levels of public and social life;
• promoting the protection of the social, personal, and other rights and legitimate interests of people living with HIV/AIDS;
• promoting the development of society through tolerance and awareness of the equal rights of all citizens, including people living with HIV/AIDS;
• promoting the development of science and education, implementing scientific and educational programs, and assisting scientists in fields related to the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of HIV/AIDS;
• providing assistance in the development of information infrastructure, publishing, and mass media aimed at informing the public about the problems of HIV/AIDS, alcoholism, and drug addiction;
• promoting the development of healthcare, promoting a healthy lifestyle, participating in the provision of medical care to people living with HIV/AIDS who need social support and care.

During its existence, the organization has implemented a number of projects, including “Creation of a comprehensive center for psychosocial support for all segments of the population affected by HIV/AIDS in Mykolaiv,” “Activating city authorities to make changes to the city’s social investment program,” and “Day center for kids from families affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic.” Mykolaiv,“ ”Activating city authorities to make additions to the city’s social investment program,“ ”Day center for children from families affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic,“ ”Legal service for the protection of the rights of HIV+ citizens of the Mykolaiv region,“ ”Community center for PIN,“ ” Family for a Child,“ ”Center for Social and Psychological Adaptation of HIV-Positive MSM,“ ”Creating Conditions for the Integration of HIV+ Children into Society,” and others. A number of them are still successfully continuing their activities.

Today, the Mykolaiv regional branch of the All-Ukrainian Charitable Organization “All-Ukrainian Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS” is a large and powerful organization representing the interests of HIV-positive people in the city of Mykolaiv and the Mykolaiv region.
